We’re in Moasca, between Nizza Monferrato and Canelli, exactly halfway from Asti’s Langa and Monferrato.
After finishing my studies at the Oenology school in Alba, I immediately started to trauajé, without having any clear ideas of which path I would follow.
After a brief experience in a wine analysis laboratory, I decided to enroll in the degree course in Viticulture and Oenology in Turin.
Between an exam session and a pruning session at home, I started working as an agronomist in a historic winery in Monferrato.
My grandfather was there and it wasn't only aboutwine. Alongside the vineyard there was the farm and fruit trees, especially apples.
The focus has shifted to wine with the sale of part of the grapes and the bulk vinification of the remaining part.
“I no longer had my contract renewed and I took over the vineyards and cellar at my home”. Here the adventure begins.
Tenuta il Nespolo
At the entrance to the cellar there is a japonic medlar tree. One of those slightly obnoxious plants that make the fruit fall to the ground (and onto car dashboards), causing disasters. The name of the winery is a tribute to this tree which has become an integral part of reality.
